3 Tips for Training Your Reactive Doggo:

1. Complete trust building exercises for 15-30 minutes where you give a series of 5-10 commands and reward the successful ones!

2. Remain calm when the reactivity happens and redirect your doggo from his or her negative action to a productive job they should do instead, like come or sit.

3. Engage in lots of positive reinforcement where you mark your pup’s good behavior so he or she understands the behavior you want them to repeat.

Your dog’s reactivity can stem from many sources like confusion, fear, lack of socialization, past trauma, etc. and it can be triggered by anything and everything - dogs, people, even objects. But, while these behaviors are common and even normal, that doesn’t mean they aren’t preventable with the right training. And, training away the reactivity doesn’t just benefit you and your peace, but your dog’s, too! Reducing the reactivity the right way means you’ve simultaneously reduces your dog’s confusion and stress while creating a well-balanced, happy dog amidst real world distractions, which is kind of our specialty 💁‍♂️

So, if you’re ready to tame the reactivity and reclaim peaceful walks with your furry friend, give us a call or text to book your complimentary in-home consultation to get started! 📞425-405-5748
